Did you know?

45,912

The number of patients seen by Interplast
volunteers since established in 1983.

26,484

The number of operations performed by Interplast
volunteers across the Asia Pacific region.

An estimated 99 million people in the Asia Pacific region each year go without the surgical attention they urgently need.

Plastic and reconstructive surgery changes people’s lives. In the Asia Pacific region, millions of people with treatable conditions are living with disability because they can’t access or afford the care they need.

Interplast works tirelessly with local partner hospitals to give access to surgery for as many people who need it. We work with dedicated volunteers to make this happen.

It’s not only patients who benefit from surgery. With each surgery performed by Interplast, local surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses participate and learn. In many cases, local surgeons are gaining hands-on experience in complex surgical techniques while under close supervision by an Interplast surgeon.

Interplast’s purpose is twofold: to improve the lives of patients, and to build local health system’s capacity so it can deliver safe and effective plastic and reconstructive surgery when Interplast is not there.
